His scar

“I think it needs a kiss to make it better.”

Inherently, a scar is a healed wound, a victory of the body over harm. Yet, it brands you, never to be the same as before it happened. More than only the body, a scar is a mark in time. It’s difficult to keep track of all events that occur throughout someone’s life, but one would be pressed to forget the origin of any particular scar. Still, Troy doesn’t.

“If I had a Gil for every time I’m asked, I could quit at least 3 jobs!”, he shrugs. “Must’ve happened in the Arcadion”, he’ll say. A Likely story, if only it were true.

“Does it matter?”, he thinks to himself. If one forgets how they were hurt, how can they avoid repeating the same mistake? And what of scars that cannot be seen, mental and emotional ones? Does he remember those? When Troy looks in the mirror, is he blind to the warning that stares back? It may be for the better. A man who uncovers the truth can be unraveled by it in return.
