Overcoming fears

There’s a supersticion in the Chinese Zodiac; “The year of one’s sign, is one of personal trials”. Those being your 12th, 24th, 36th birthday years, and so on. With that in mind, I entered 2024 - when I turn 36 - oriented by a desire of overcoming whatever challenges this year would throw at me, and so far, there’s been plenty.

Earlier I overcomame a long held fear of piercing my ear. Proud of this small victory, I told myself “I’m ready for a tattoo!”

Recently I lost my cat, Miya, who’s been my companion for 15 years. That’s how, at an art festival I spontaneously went to, I decided to unpromptly get this tattoo. Overcoming another fear, and paying tribute to the memory of my dearest friend.
